Brighten up your space...

In this video class, I've cooked up a lighthearted, improv-style pillow that anyone can make. When you join the class you get:

  • Immediate access to course content
  • Up-close video instructions for every step of the process
  • A printable pattern with step-by-step instructions - only available in this class.

New skills...

As a free motion quilting teacher I know practice is how you get more comfortable with FMQ. What if your practice was beautiful and useful too? Small projects like this are the perfect way to learn new skills and have the pleasure of a pretty finished product at the end!

The class can also be a great introduction to other skills you might not have tried yet, like freehand curves and scrappy foundation piecing.

Reviews

“What a great class! You guys did a wonderful job. I hope you make many more; I always love the free-motion parts.”

“What a fun course! Easy to follow. Great photography. Love that you included your daughter in the production! I will use this often because I can use scraps from previous quilts to make matching pillows as I did for these first trials. And it's a great way to try new free motion quilting patterns. I also tried using variegated thread. So fun! And relaxing!”

“Really enjoyed this class! I especially liked the free motion part where you were thinking as you were going along. I like that because it helps me to understand how you make decisions as you are free motion quilting. Nice camera work and a comfortable feel to the video! Make more!”

Learn at your own pace...

The total video instruction time is about one hour and it takes about 3 hours to make the pillow yourself.

FAQ

  • What kind of fabric should I use?

I recommend using quilting cottons. These can be solids or prints, and I use a mix of both! You could also try this with apparel fabrics such as linen or shirting, as long as they aren't stretchy.

  • Can beginning quilters take this class?

Sure! This is a nice project for newer quilters because you don't need to be precise. Just make sure you have some good cutting and measuring tools. I recommend a cutting mat and quilting ruler, a rotary cutter, and fabric shears. I go over additional supplies in the class.

  • How long can I access the class?

Class access ends December 26, 2023.

  • How big is the finished pillow?

    The finished pillow measures 16" x 16".

  • How much is the class?

    The class price is $30.

  • I thought I already bought this class?

In 2020 I released the class on a different platform (CourseCraft) which will be going out of business soon. Currently, everyone who signed up on CourseCraft still has access through that platform. Before access ends there, I will add all registered students from the old site to this new site and students will receive an email letting them know when this is done.
